Nauvoo Legion (Ill.)
The Nauvoo Legion was a city militia created by act of the Illinois legislature in 1841. Joseph Smith was lieutenant general and John C. Bennett was initially major general. Bennett was replaced by Wilson Law and Law by Charles C. Rich.
