Presbytarian cleryman and promoter of missionary activities. He was a graduate of Hamilton College, 1857, and Union Thelogical Seminary, 1860. Ordained to the ministry in 1860, he pastored churches in New York State, Michigan, and Pennsylvania over the next three decades. He was also a volumonious writer of books and pamphlets relating to his interest in missions and editor of the Missionary Review, 1890-1911.
