Calvary was officially organized under the direction of Pastor/Developer John L. Baglien on April 29, 1956 with 104 members. The first service was held December 4, 1955 with 90 present. Of the 219 who attended the organizing service and those on the charter membership roll, 70% came from an unchurched background. Current membership totals 471 baptized and 331 confirmed with 125 enrolled in the Sunday Church School. Ministry reaches into the community and Calvary’s pastors and members give leadership in the life of the Synod. The congregation has generously supported ecumenical ties in the community, reaching out to other parishes, clergy and social ministries. The congregation recently established a Long Range Planning Committee, fully expecting a wide ranging ministry through the remainder of this century.
