The Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute was established in 1930 in Reading, Pennsylvania. In 1958 it became the Penn State Berks campus; in 1997 Penn State Berks Campus joined with the Allentown Campus to create a new Penn State college, Berks-Lehigh Valley College, and in 2005, Penn State restructured the university across the state. Penn State Lehigh Valley split from the Berks campus and became a campus of the University. Penn State Berks becomes its own college. The Advisory Board of the Wyomissing Center of the Pennsylvania State University was incorporated as a non-profit corporation on 3 October 1960. Its role was to support, promote, and foster advancement of learning in arts, sciences and humanities at the Center; to make recommendations, through the Director of the Center, to the President of the university concerning matters of financing, programming, and public relations; to consult with the Director of the Center on policies which should be adopted to benefit the area served by the Center; to organize area support for capital financing of the Center; to participate in control and development of the program of acquisition, construction, and maintenance of Center facilities; and to act as an intermediary between the Center and the communities served by the Center. The name changed to Advisory Board of the Berks Center of the Pennsylvania State University in December 1964, to Advisory Board of the Berks Campus of the Pennsylvania State University in April 1969, and to Advisory Board of the Berks Campus of the Pennsylvania State University in October 1979.
