Harper Family.

John Harper (1811-1891) was president of the Bank of Pittsburgh and was active in benevolent and commercial associations in the city. His son, Albert Metcalf Harper (1843-1871), served in the Civil War, attaining the rank of Major and Adjutant General of U.S. volunteers.
