Hull, Charles J. (Charles Jerald), 1820-1889
Variant namesCharles Jerold Hull, a wealthy Chicago industrialist, donated his country house on Halsted St. to Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr for their settlement house. His cousin and business partner, Helen Culver, was responsible for introducing Addams and Starr to Hull. Helen Culver remained a life-long benefactor of Hull-House.
