Young Men's Christian Association (Hope College)

Hide Profile

A chapter of the YMCA was organized in 1879 to promote Bible study at Hope College. It broadened, however, into a social as well as spiritual organization. The group was run by a president and 11 council members. In 1904, 14 female Hope College students organized a chapter of the YWCA. These women worked closely with the members of the YMCA and together they published a newsletter of upcoming "Y" events called "Y-Fore."
