Born Jan. 16, 1908, Lynchburg, Va.; artist, portraitist; grandson of Elizabeth Dabney Langhorne Lewis and cousin of Lady Nancy Astor and Nancy Perkins Lancaster; studied in Paris and at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia; served with 89th Field Artillery in World War II, wounded at Guadalcanal, sent to New Zealand for hospitalization, worked as medical illustrator for 39th General Hospital; involved with theatrical productions in Lynchburg as set designer and actor; noted for portraits and floral paintings; died July 29, 1985, Lynchburg, Va.
