Whiteley, Albert, 1817-1893
Albert Whiteley was born in Caroline County, Maryland, on March 6, 1817, the son of William and Elizabeth Whiteley. After graduating from Delaware College, he attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (now part of Thomas Jefferson University), from which he graduated in 1839. Whiteley practiced medicine in Frederica, Delaware, and served as a member of the state's board of health from 1879 until his death on April 27, 1893. He and his first wife, Elizabeth, had three children: Elizabeth, Benjamin, and Madeline. He had a fourth child, Emma, with either Elizabeth or his second wife, Rachel.
