In 1995, the University Task Force on Advising and Auditing Systems reviewed technological systems that could support and enhance student advisement and found that technology alone was insufficient. In 1997, the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs appointed a committee to find ways to coordinate and improve cooperation for UCF's student services. As the committee chose academic advising as one of its top four priorities, an Academic Advising Team of faculty, staff and students was charged in 1998 with developing a comprehensive, integrated academic advising system to enhance student satisfaction, retention and graduation rates. Now, the Academic Advising Council serves a resource for faculty and professional advisors to assist them in advising students.
