Johnson, Andrew Percy

Hide Profile

Andrew Percy Johnson (1885-1945) was born in Zona, Louisiana, but moved to Texas for his health around 1905.

He was admitted to the bar in 1912 and worked as a general practice and real estate attorney in Asherton and Carrizo Springs, Texas, before serving in the Texas Legislature from 1927 to 1934. While a state representative he became involved with the National Democratic Convention of 1928. Though it is unclear when or under what circumstances he met Barbara Gordan (b. 1890), the two had a long-distance courtship (he in Texas and she in Louisiana) that culminated in their marriage in 1911.
