Burge family.
Prominent Johnson County, Iowa family. J.M. Burge (farmer) and his wife Mary were two of Johnson County's pioneer citizens. One of their children, A.J. Burge, was a prominent Iowa City surgeon and professor of surgery at the State University of Iowa. A second son, Jay, was a farmer in the county's Pleasant Valley Township. Daughter Jenny taught English at the Iowa City high school.
