Biography

Dodd was born on July 16, 1886 in Cascade, IA; BS, Cornell College, 1910; MS (1914) and Ph.D (1918), Univ. of Iowa; worked for three years at the National Bureau of Standards, Washington, D.C.; joined the physics dept. of the Southern Branch of the Univ. of CA, and remained at UCLA, retiring as professor in 1954; president of the Southern CA section and member of the national executive council, American Assn. of Physics Teachers; research interests included measurements on the properties of matter and geometrical optics; publications include Laboratory experiments in fluids and heat (c1947); he died on Sept. 14, 1975 in Port Angeles, WA.
