Bodamer, John A., b. 1841.
United States Army officer and engineer from Buffalo, NY. During the Civil War he served as a drummer in Company B of the 21st New York Infantry, May 1861-May 1863; re-enlisted, December 1863; and mustered in as corporal of 24th New York cavalry; captured at Weldon Railroad, VA, 21 August 1864 and confined in prison until escaping in November 1864, rejoined regiment, April 1865; joined the regular army after the war serving in 10th U.S. Cavalry, 1867-1871; thereafter, he returned to Buffalo, where he was married and pursued a career in engineering.
