United States. Continental Army. Artillery Regiment, 3rd.
The 3rd Regiment of Artillery, under Colonel John Crane, was part of the Continental Army from January 1, 1777 until June 17, 1783, when all artillery regiments were consolidated into the Corps of Artillery. All twelve companies were from Massachusetts, and the regiment was sometimes known as the Massachusetts Regiment of Artillery.
