Dr Lovelace grew up in Shelby and Thomasville, North Carolina and was graduated from High Point College. He received his Master in Theology Degree and Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He has served as a Baptist pastor in eight states and in England, Jordan, and Greece. He taught at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest College (as Assoc. Prof. of Religion 1946-52), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and at Stetson University prior to his retirement in 1993 to Winston-Salem North Carolina professor of archaeology and history
