Schubert Memorial, Inc.

Hide Profile

The Schubert Memorial, Inc. was founded in 1928 by prominent musicians and philanthropists to support young American musical talent.

Nationwide competitions were conducted with the help of a network of local chapters leading to a Carnegie Hall debut with a major symphony orchestra for the two winners. The organization was active through at least 1939; it is not known when it dissolved. Though several Juilliard faculty members and administrators were involved in the Schubert Memorial, the organization was never formally affiliated with the Juilliard School.
