Surgeon, 13th Regiment New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry, 1862-1865. The regiment fought at Fredericksburg, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg. They were the first Union troops to enter Richmond after it was evacuated by Confederate forces in April 1865.

Richardson received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1856. Both before and after his military service he practiced medicine in Marlborough, N.H. For additional information see finding aid.
