Born in Sheridan, Ark.; attended the University of Arkansas; earned a masters degree in education in 1954; taught home economics at Yellville-Summit High School in Yellville, Ark. (1942?1951) and directed the school food service program there (1943?1951); taught home economics in Bentonville School in Bentonville, Ark. (1951?1952) and served as the food service director for 1000 students; joined the supervisory staff of the school food service section of the Arkansas Dept. of Education in 1953; served as southwest regional director of the American School Food Service Association, advisor to the executive board of the Arkansas School Food Service Association, and in numerous other positions in school food service organizations.
