Babits, Lawrence Edward

Lawrence E. Babits is a professor who specializes in maritime material culture and military history. He currently teaches at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where he teaches classes in method and theory in nautical archaeology, material culture studies, small boat documentation, and field schools. During the 1980s, Babits was a professor at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) in Savannah, Georgia, where he was involved in the Center for Low Country Studies. The Center for Low Country Studies was a part of the history department at AASU and was integral in promoting research activities that dealt with topics related to coastal Georgia and the Atlantic coastal region and Babits contributed a lot of research to this program.
