Buvelot, Louis, 1814-1888
Variant namesAbram-Louis Buvelot was born in 1814 in Switzerland, where he later undertook his artists training. In 1864, after having travelled and painted in Brazil and India, Louis Buvelot arrived in Australia and settled in Melbourne, where he soon established himself as the colony's leading landscape artist.
