Charles F. Burt was a Cornell University graduate (1875) from Albion, New York. He relocated to DeWitt, Michigan to teach primary and secondary school to the children of new settlers. He returned to upstate New York prior to the turn of the century and would later become the Town Supervisor of Kendall, New York. C. Willard Burt was the son of Charles, who served in France during the First World War after training in Camp Dix, New Jersey.
