Planter of Three Creeks Plantation, Marlboro County, S.C.; son, of James Spears (1758-1842); husband of Deborah Bethea Spears (1801-1865); brother of David Spears and Mary Spears John (1796-1874); father of Andrew Jackson Spears (d. 1852), Ann Elizabeth Spears Stubbs (1821-1895), Martha Spears (1825-1891), Emily Spears Pipkin (1829-1871), Rebecca Lucretia Spears (1838-1877), and at least three other children.
