Krause (b.1923) served in World War II with the 565th Anti-Aircraft Battalion.

After the war he returned to Wisconsin and eventually settled in Iola. While working as a carpenter, he founded Krause Publications in 1952 and was involved with publications such as "Numismatic News," the "Standard Catalog of World Coins," and "Old Cars."
