Wheeler, Douglas P.

Douglas P. Wheeler earned a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College in 1963, and a law degree from the Duke University School of Law in 1966. Wheeler joined the U.S. Department of the Interior in 1969, and for seven years he was Assistant Legislative Counsel and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. Wheeler served as Executive Director of the Sierra Club from 1985 to 1987. He has held leadership positions with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the American Farmland Trust, and the World Wildlife Fund. Wheeler was California's Secretary for Resources from 1991 to 1999.
