Pipes, David Washington, 1886-1968.
David W. Pipes was a sugar planter and attorney of New Orleans, married to Mary Louise Minor, daughter of Henry Chotard Minor (d. 1898). In 1913, Pipes began managing the estate of Henry C. Minor, which consisted of many sugar plantations, including Southdown Plantation in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Pipes served as president of the American Sugar Cane League, was active in the Republican Party of Louisiana, and was a Republican candidate for United States Representative from the Third Congressional District in 1940.
