Architect Arthur Bates Jennings married Caroline Jerusha Allen of West Meriden, Connecticut, in 1881. The couple settled in New York City and had three children: Edward Allen Jennings who worked as physician in New York City following attendance of Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons; Helen Bates Jennings; and Arthur Bates Jennings, a musician and music instructor who eventually occupied a full professorship at the University of Minnesota.
