Vail, Lewis, fl. 1809-1844,

Lewis Vail moved to Muskingum (Coshocton) Co., Ohio in 1809 from Rockhingham Co., Va. In 1809-1813 he was a member of the Ohio militia and took part in the operations against Indians. During that time, he trained with Maj. Jonathan Cass, father of Lewis Cass. In 1819 he moved to Stark Co., Ohio.
