Dixon Ryan Fox was President of Union College from 1934 to 1945. The New York State Citizens' Council for a Durable Peace, also known as the New York State Citizens' Council, was set up to promote the cause of peace, after World War II, by establishing local Citizens' Councils which would help local communities 'deal effectively with the problems of the postwar world.'
