Hide Profile

The Alliance for Progressive Action (APA) was formed during the spring of 1991 as a coalition of labor and grassroots organizations in Pittsburgh, Pa. APA was involved in labor, environmental, social, political and civil rights issues. The APA became the Pittsburgh chapter of Jobs with Justice, which gave it official status within the AFL-CIO. During the late 1990s into the early 2000s, the organization headed campaigns to create a living wage for workers in Allegheny County, block the privatization of public television in Pittsburgh and create a police review board.
