Malcolm Gray Dade was born in 1903 in New Bedford, Mass. A noted Detroit black clergyman and community leader, he was ordained as priest of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church, Detroit, Mich., in 1936, where he served until 1972. Appointee of five different Detroit mayors he served on numerous advisory committees and founded the West Side Human Relations Council. He was the Democratic delegate from Wayne County's 4th district to the Michigan Constitutional Convention, 1961-1962, and served on boards of directors for Goodwill Industries, the American Red Cross and the Detroit chapter of the NAACP, among others. He died in 1991.
