Biography / Administrative History
The Transit Reference Collection is an accumulation of reference resources gathered by the libraries of the LACMTA and it predecessor agencies, beginning with Los Angeles Railway (1911-1945) and continuing with Los Angeles Transit Lines (1945-1958), the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (1958-1964), Southern California Rapid Transit District (1964-1993), and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (1993 to present). The reference material was an important source of information for the library and transit agency staff.
