Congregation Beth El (South Orange, N.J.)

The founding of Congregation Beth El in June 1946 marked the establishment of the first synagogue in South Orange and Maplewood. By Oct. 1946, the Conservative congregation was formally launched with a membership of 125 people. In 1988, Beth David Jewish Center merged with Congregation Beth El. Older name: Congregation Beth El of the Oranges and Maplewood. As of 2008, known as Congregation Beth El.
