The University of Central Florida Women's Club was founded in 1969 by female faculty, staff and the spouses of faculty and staff "to promote the sociability and the advancement of University interests and ideals". The purpose of the Club has been achieved over the years through a variety of different programs that served not only a social purpose for University faculty and their wives, but also a philanthropic purpose, through a variety of fund-raising efforts. The club is run by elected officers, including a president, secretary, treasurer and historian, who form an executive board. The organization has provided three endowed scholarships named for the University's current and former president's wives, as well as numerous other projects designed to positively influence the University and the Central Florida community.
