In a series of expeditions to the Arctic, Captain Bartlett collected materials for various organizations. During the course of the expeditions, Dr. Waldo L. Schmitt, US National Museum, assisted Bartlett by providing collecting equipment and analyzing the resulting specimens. The Weather Bureau provided Bartlett with maps of the Arctic in exchange for current information regarding glacier movements and size and water temperature. During the 1936 expedition Bartlett collected specimens for the Smithsonian Institution, American Geographical Society, Chicago Zoological Society, and the Field Museum. On this trip, expedition members captured two musk oxen for the Chicago Zoological Society. Collected specimens include marine (fish and plankton) and plants. Locations include Angmagssalik [Tasiilaq]; Jameson Land; Rathbone Ø; Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord; and Cape Tattersall.
