Carriage makers of Charleston and Greenville, S.C.; Henry Chandler Markley (b.1827), co-owned carriage making company, Gower, Cox, Markley and Company, of Greenville County, S.C., and was husband of Elizabeth Evatt Gass Markley; John Markley (1800-1872) and Rebecca M. Cox Markley (b.1808), moved in 1838 from Charleston to Greenville County, S.C., and were parents of Henry C. Markley and eleven other children.
