Corpstein, Peter, 1931-

Prominent Phoenix businessman, former member of the Arizona State Senate and House. and Maricopa County Department of Revenue assessor; grandson of Peter Joseph Corpstein.

Peter Joseph Corpstein was born in 1931 to descendants of a pioneer Arizona family. His grandfather and namesake founded the Valley Seed Company and served as Mayor of Phoenix from 1916 to 1918.

Corpstein attended the University of Arizona (1948-1952) and served in the U.S. Army (1952-1954) before being elected to the Arizona Congress as a Representative from Paradise Valley. He served five terms in the legislature. He also worked as employment officer and director of the Valley Seed Company and the Arizona Sash, Door & Glass Company and is active in a number of organizations, including GOP fundraising. Beginning in 1994, Corpstein served as Assessor of the Maricopa County Department of Revenue. He is married and has two children.
