McBride, Lambert.
Mr Lambert (Stan) McBride was the Queensland President of the Federal Council for the Advancement of Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders (FCAATSI). Mrs May McBride was the Publicity Officer of the Queensland Branch of FCAATSI. The 1967 referendum asked voters to acknowledge Indigenous Australians as citizens and gave the Commonwealth Government the power to make laws regarding Indigenous people. Lambert McBride was central in making the campaign a success.
