Schmidt (b.1922) served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945.

Born in Port Washington (Wisconsin) and raised in Belgium (Wisconsin), he served in the Pacific theater and was awarded a bronze star for helping to evacuate wounded Marines on Iwo Jima. After the war, he worked for the Continental Can Company and settled in Milwaukee.
