Higinbotham, Thomas H.
Variant namesThomas Higinbotham was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1819 and gained his early experience as a railways engineer in England. He emigrated to Victoria in 1857 and was appointed engineer-in-chief of the Victorian Railways in 1860. In 1874-1875 he was sent to investigate and report on the latest developments in railway construction and management in Europe, America and India. He died in Sept. 1880.
