William C. Turner was born in Grandbury, Tex. on January 19, 1925 and enlisted in the Army at Ft. Bliss, Tex. He received his basic training at Camp Robinson, Ark. before joining the 10th Mountain Division in Italy as a replacement soldier. Turner was assigned to Company E of the 85th Infantry Regiment. After World War II ended, he served an additional year with the U.S. occupation forces in Germany.
