Mark David Altschule, 1906-1988, MD, 1932, Harvard Medical School, was an internist who focused on laboratory research. As Clinical Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, he served as Director of Internal Medicine and of Research in Clinical Psychology from 1947 to 1968 at the McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass. He authored "Medicine at Harvard: The First 300 Years," with Henry K. Beecher in 1977. Altschule's research focused on the cardiovascular system, cardiorespiratory physiology, and endocrine influences on the heart.
