Paul Goldhaber (1924-2008), D.D.S., 1948, New York University College of Dentistry, dental educator and bone biology expert, was the first Jewish Dean at Harvard University. Goldhaber arrived at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine as a research assistant in 1954, was appointed a full professor in 1966, and became Dean in 1968. He retired as Dean Emeritus in 1990. In addition to his influence on Dental School education, Goldhaber was well known for his research on bone biology. The results of his research helped enable tooth implantation to become a routine dental procedure.
