Moore family of whom Thomas served as a private in the Revolutionary War, settled in Kentucky. In 1831 Thomas, Robert, William and Travis, moved from Kentucky to settle in Macoupin County, Illinois. Robert was married to Elizabeth Williams, whose family remained in Simpson County, Kentucky. They had seven children. Robert was a school teacher. In 1833 Travis started a dry goods store and a tavern in Carlinville, Ill. Robert and Travis both served as trustees of the Carlinville school. Travis's son B.F. moved to Dallas, Texas as did some of the Williams family. His son Neriah settled in Berlin, Ill. Thomas, son of Robert, was appointed road commissioner in 1863 for Macoupin County.
