Important 18th-century Egyptian astronomer; pupil of Egyptian astronomers Riḍwān Afandī al-Falakī (d. 1710) and Muḥammad al-Birshamsī; close friend of Ḥasan al-Jabartī; his writings very popular in 18th-19th centuries.
