Simpson, James, 1737-1815.
British attorney-general of South Carolina. A native of Scotland, Simpson emigrated to America in 1752. He had to leave South Carolina for England in 1777 for rejecting an oath of abjuration, but returned to America, arriving in Georgia in 1779.
