The Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council were formed to govern fraternities and sororities on campus respectively. The IFC was founded in the 1920s, with the Panhellenic Council being founded a decade later in the 1930s. Both the IFC and Panhellenic councils are members of the National Panhellenic Council, acting under their national guidelines regarding the promotion of superior scholarship and intellectual achievement and harmony among members. The two councils work in cooperation on various campus events, most notably Dance MaraTHON.
