Josiah Spode operated a pottery at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. He is regarded as the inventor of English bone china. From 1805 to 1822, Henry Daniel and his team of artists decorated Spode's porcelains in Daniel's own workshops within the Spode factory. The Spode works was taken over by Copeland & Garrett in 1833.
