Virginia. Commissioner of Boundary Lines.

Hide Profile

On 26 March 1858 the General Assembly passed an act authorizing the governor to appoint a commissioner who, in conjunction with a Maryland commissioner, was to verify the boundary between Virginia and Maryland. On completion of his task the commissioner made a report to the General Assembly. In 1860 the General Assembly passed a resolution which authorized the retracing and marking of the Virginia-Maryland boundary line on the Eastern Shore. The governor was authorized to send a commissioner to England to obtain documentary evidence of the boundary lines between Virginia and the states of Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee.
