Local 1234 of International Union, United Automobile, Aircraft, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (also called United Automobile Workers Local 1234) organized in 1952; in 1962 name of national organization changed to International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America; decertified 1972 and at same time most members joined newly formed Independent Aircraft Machinists Union; in 1974 reorganized as Lodge 707 of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; represents New Haven, Conn., area workers of United Aircraft's Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Division (in late 1970s reorganized as Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Group, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation) plant in North Haven, Conn.
